As most of you who read this know, I'm from Belfast, this was also the place where the Titanic was built. Also, unless you've been living under a rock for the past few months, you'll also know that it was recently the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic.
If you're from outside of Northern Ireland and maybe you're getting a little sick of hearing about it, try to imagine what it's like over here, you ain't seen nothing yet.
If you travel through Belfast, particularly at this time, you'll find it impossible to not notice some sort of advertising that exploits the Titanic. Be it Thompson's Tea
, the 3D re-release of Titanic (which the makers of had to apologise to the family of one of the crew for, it's the suicide scene, that didn't actually happen) and most ridiculous of all, Tayto Titanic Crisps
Let's put it into perspective, they're using a disaster in which 1500 people died in order to sell things.
At the risk of sounding like an over reacting moron, I really fail to understand why Tayto seemed to think that this was a good idea.
I'm not trying to be funny here, believe me I wouldn't joke about something like this, but the way some companies are getting on is actually a joke.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not opposed to any kind of commemoration of the event, in fact I would support that, it was a very important incident in history that still has relevance today.
